Editorial standards
The principles that guide our reporting at TheStudentFeed, including accuracy, sourcing, independence, fairness and how we separate news from opinion.
Our journalism is only valuable if readers can trust it. These standards apply to everything we publish.
Accuracy
We verify facts before publication, using primary sources wherever possible: documents, data, direct observation and on-the-record interviews. Numbers are checked against their original source. Where a claim cannot be independently verified, we say so.
Sourcing
We name our sources whenever possible. We grant anonymity only when a source faces a genuine risk of harm, and only when the information is important and cannot be obtained another way. When we use an anonymous source, we explain to readers why.
Fairness
People and organizations who are the subject of significant criticism in our reporting are given a meaningful opportunity to respond before publication, and we include their response.
Independence
Our editorial decisions are made by our journalists and editors alone. Advertisers, funders and owners have no role in deciding what we cover or how. See our ownership and funding page.
News, analysis and opinion
We clearly label every article by type. Explainers and features give practical, sourced guidance. News reports what happened. Analysis interprets events using reporting and expertise. Opinion pieces argue a point of view and are always labeled as opinion.
Health and science reporting
We link to primary research, note the limitations of studies — including sample size and whether findings are in animals or people — and avoid presenting preliminary findings as settled.
Images and AI
Images are labeled with a credit. Illustrations are identified as such. We do not publish AI-generated images presented as photographs of real events, and journalists remain responsible for every word we publish.
Corrections
When we make a mistake, we correct it promptly and transparently. See our corrections policy.
